Enjoy the tourist paradise Celestun National Park, declared by the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Wetlands of International Importance. Ria Celestun is a sanctuary for waterfowl and countless pink flamingos that feed on the muddy waters of the estuary. We travel by boat between mangroves, arrive to “eye freshwater” free time to swim. For adventure lovers, we shall descend into the womb of the earth, and discover inside the cavern of XPUKIL, (Stone throat of the Deer) stalagmites and stalactites in an area of 5 kilometers. Pick up at 9:00 a.m. Our first visit will be the gothic church of EKNAKAN, and the archaeological site of ACANCEH. The hacienda called Chunkanan will be our base for our visit to the “cenotes” or sinkholes. Following the old tracks of the railroad, and on board a “Truck”, a wagon pulled by a horse, we will arrive to the cenotes of Bolonchoojol and Chelentun. They are underground caverns with crystal clear water. We will have the opportunity to swim at both cenotes, in its pristine “Sacred” waters. Included are the snorkel gear, refreshments and a boxed lunch. Return to Merida around 5:00 p.m.

The city of the hills located just in the centre of the Yucatan peninsula could be the most ancient colonial city where we can find five pyramids in the very city center. Some houses still have evidence of Mayan structures in their back garden. The main pyramid is called Kinich Kak Moo, there are other structures as The Rabbit, Kabul and Itzamatul. Izamal is considered a colonial jewel because all the buildings are painted with an intense yellow colour and its main attractive is the Ex Franciscan convent that was built over the Mayan pyramids using the stones of them for its construction. Its founder was friar Diego de Landa, famous for burning the Mayan codex. Dinner included. We back to the convent to enjoy the show “la Luz de los Mayas”. Return to Merida.
