Cananea

Cananea is located driving along the federal highway to Nogales and taking the road to Agua Prieta in the
State of Sonora, Mexico.

Cananea is located 290 km from Hermosillo and is one of the most important mining Cananea Prison in Cananea, Sonora, Mexicoand metallurgical centers in the Country.

Among Cananea main attractions are:

  • The famous Cananea Prison, which nowadays is a Museum of Antiques

  • The Del Cobre Mine (it can only be visited if you get a permit)

The Feria del Cobre (Copper Fair) is celebrated in Cananea during the last week of June, with folk dances, shows and horse races.
